Although not too often does a job requiring historical restoration arise, it is a very good credential to have. Custom Foam & Precast is prepared to assist with any restoration project you might have.
Recreating aged and weathered statues, repairing broken caps and trims, and completely replacing all of the cast items on an old building without changing a single detail. These are all good examples of historical restoration. After decades or centuries of sitting in one place, concrete can eventually begin to crack, break or just turn to dust. The ability to bring those pieces of history back to life is something we are proud to do.
Modern practices in the field of precast have changed quite a bit in the past century, meaning we can make pieces much stronger nowadays than how they were manufactured in earlier days. Thus, restoration won’t need to be repeated as soon.
Although most restorations use systems such as rubber molding to recreate the historical piece from a positive, the pictures shown here are from a quite unorthodox method. In this case, a local university was attempting to restore the window sills on a historic alumni building.

The original piece given to us to replicate was destroyed so badly, that we took a backwards approach to building the mold. Using computer technology, we built the form in auto-CAD and then went straight to building the mold from foam. The end product was a perfect match of the original sills, just as if it was brought back from the past, almost a century ago.
