The need for concrete and precast shouldn’t always lead to a back breaking installation. Here at Custom Foam & Precast we are constantly striving to bring the weight of our products out of the danger zone without losing an ounce of durability.

Wet cast products high in mass are fitted with custom foam shapes and rebar. The image to the upper right shows a custom polystyrene insert made to sit within the concrete of a massive chimney cap.

G.F.R.C. is another great example of a light weight alternative, as G.F.R.C. products are generally made hollow. This allows us to create very large, elegant looking cast products that can be installed without needing a crane and fifteen men to finish the job.

Also, G.F.R.C. products can fitted with foam and rebar as well. A common practice we use is to fit a foam insert loosely within the G.F.R.C. shell, and then pour a very wet slurry of cement into the gaps. This method slightly increases the weight, but no where near the weight of a product of it’s same mass, cast from wet cement alone. Further more it allows us to still achieve the beautiful look of travertine stone, at a light weight and with a solid back surface.

Custom Foam & Precast has all but perfected the art of light weight design in the precast field.
